REPAIRS

When considering the condition of your gutters and downspouts, we will help you determine the proper plan of action for your property.  After inspection, we will provide an honest assessment and recommend which direction makes the most sense for your needs.

Obvious Warning Signs of Failing Gutters:

  • Gutter hanging off the home — may need a gutter replacement
  • Downspout disconnected from gutter or home
  • Water in home or basement
  • Seams leaking or dripping
  • Overflowing gutters — gutters may just need cleaned

Subtle Warning Signs of Failing Gutters:

  • Spike and ferrules pulling away from the gutter where you can see the nail head popping out
  • Mold in areas below where gutters are or should be
  • Rotting deck boards, windowsills, garage doors, and regular doors below where gutters are or should be
  • Erosion in landscape or mulch beds
  • Cracking or upheaval of sidewalks, patios, driveways, and stairs
  • Paint flaking or peeling prematurely in areas near the base of the home
  • Dips or back pitch in gutters

replacements and New Installations

Often times, we arrive at a job to check on repairs and realize the client is in need of a gutter installation instead.  If your gutters are leaking at the seams, it may be time to update to seamless gutters. If your gutters were installed with spike and ferrule, this means they are likely over 20 years old, and you could also potentially have rotting fascia.

At Eirhart Construction, we offer seamless gutters.  Seamless gutters are less prone to clogging, leaking, and other damage than sectional gutters.  Custom-fabricated for a perfect fit, seamless gutters can handle heavier rainfall, so your home will be better protected from moisture damage even during heavy rains.

Cleaning

Cleaning gutters is critical because clogged gutters will overflow and damage your home.  The purpose of gutters is to guide water from your roof to the ground while keeping it away from your house. The problem is that water is never the only thing that ends up in your gutter.  Leaves, debris, shingle grit, and even animals can find their way in there, and when they get stuck, your gutters can clog — causing some serious and costly damage to your home.  Clogged gutters can overflow and lead to basement water problems and foundation issues as well as rot your fascia board, allowing water to leak into your attic, ceiling, etc.  It's especially important to have your gutters cleaned before winter, since water that doesn't properly drain can freeze in the wintertime and eventually damage your gutters.  We recommend a spring cleaning right before heavy rainfall starts and a fall cleaning after the leaves fall.

Signs Your Gutters Need Attention:

  • Gutter overflow
  • Visible debris in gutters
  • No water flow from the downspout
  • Stained or cracked walls, siding, or foundation
  • Pooling by your foundation

During an evaluation, we can determine whether your gutter system needs gutter cleaning services or if your overflow is due to other issues that may involve a repair or a replacement.
